Strengthening Carwow’s Online Automotive Platform with Scalable Rails Development

Overview

Carwow, a leading online automotive marketplace, brought us in to support their team in enhancing and maintaining their fast-growing platform for buying and selling cars. Our role included contributing new features, tackling critical maintenance tasks, and helping ensure the platform was built to scale reliably with increasing demand.

Collaborating closely with Carwow’s tech lead, we worked across both frontend and backend systems to improve performance, reduce technical debt, and ship new product capabilities—all within a robust Ruby on Rails monolith designed to handle high volumes of traffic and transactions.

The Challenge

Carwow needed to move quickly without sacrificing platform stability or long-term maintainability. As their marketplace scaled, so did the technical demands—both in terms of performance and development velocity.

They required senior Rails support to help drive feature delivery while improving infrastructure to meet long-term goals around reliability and scalability.

Our Solution

Our consultancy team embedded directly into their development process, working alongside their in-house engineers to identify and deliver high-priority improvements. We contributed to both product and infrastructure layers of the platform, including:

• Developing new features for car listings, seller tools, and pricing workflows
• Improving response times and load performance in high-traffic areas
• Addressing legacy technical debt to reduce future risk
• Helping refine deployment and operational practices for better efficiency

All work was completed within Carwow’s existing Ruby on Rails monolithic application, leveraging best practices for code maintainability and scalability.
